Music & Song is a great tool to use in the English Foreign Language classroom.
Songs are embedded into our memories much faster than texts, so they provide a very effective way of memorizing language structures. Songs and music help to communicate pronunciation and intonation, and they help develop the skill of listening. The rhythmic element of music and the presence of repetition further adds to the understanding of language because these elements deepen emphasis and inflection. For example, difficult consonant blends, such as ‘th’ or ‘ch’ can be mastered easier using rhythmical repetition. Furthermore, providing the lyrics helps students to understand spelling according to pronounciation.
